James Webb is a new telescope that is revolutionizing our knowledge of the physics of the universe. Launched in December 2021 by one of the latest Ariane 5 rockets, it is now orbiting our earth at a distance of 1.5 million kilometers, at the Lagrange point L2. Its mission is to understand the unfolding of events at the birth of the universe, by capturing light at the frontiers of our most distant past. By targeting faint, distant points of light, the telescope maps the accumulations of energy and matter at the source of the expansion of space. This jewel, made of rare and noble materials (gold, titanium, ultra-resistant aluminum alloys) was only seen by a few physicists during its construction. We want to revisit this unique machine on earth so that the public can see it, touch it and feel the power of this object. Through the interplay of lights and mirrors, we see this installation as a beacon of knowledge and understanding of our world, a manifest object projecting its golden light, reflecting the public and the surrounding environment.
