The purpose of this object is ambiguous. Is it a shelter, a solar panel, a large standing lamp? No doubt each of these subjects interfered in its development. But above all, it's an experiment in structural strength, lightness and light. A high, inclined sheet of interwoven metal wires is embedded in a thin layer of transparent resin. The flowing liquid resin creates waves on its surface before solidifying. This movement creates a vibrating refraction of light, which diffracts along the wires. At an angle, the tablecloth is perched atop a stainless steel rod, as flexible as bamboo. But the object aims to go beyond plastic research, to speak of space and architecture: suspending the tablecloth from this thin rod gives a feeling of levitation, of lightness. We feel sheltered by this soft form, and like to spend time sitting and reading under the light it filters.
